Trauma-Informed Law

Trauma-Informed Law explores how trauma impacts the legal system, and how people impacted by trauma are affected by the legal system.

Being a party in litigation, on trial for a crime, or the loved one of someone involved in either can be a traumatic experience. Trauma-informed lawyers are equipped to deal with trauma in a sensitive manner.

Efforts to improve the legal process for high-trauma conflict, such as sexual assault, are also underway.

Lawyers are at risk for secondary trauma and compassion fatigue.

Trauma-informed skills are applicable whenever a lawyer talks to any client.
